Photorejuvenation (Sun Damage Removal)

I’ve always been very pale, and I was shocked when I looked into a magnifying mirror a couple of months ago and noticed the blotchy brown sun-spots all over my face. Not quite dark enough to be considered freckles, these big brown blobs were overlapping each other like crazy at the tops of my cheeks, with smaller versions all over my nose, and for someone who is always made fun of for being ridiculously pale, I was shocked to see how sun-damaged and discolored my skin really was.

With sun-spots on the brain, suddenly wherever I looked all I could focus on was how clear everyone else’s faces were. Probably somewhat unfounded, but I became really self-conscious about my spots, and was fixated on getting rid of them. My friend had been seeing Naomi Fenlin for acne scars, which she was getting lasered off. My friend’s results were amazing, so I thought maybe lasers could do something to get rid of my brown spots too? I scheduled a consultation with Naomi, and while she was examining my face, she described what could be done: a few BBL (broadband light) sessions, and once the spots were properly treated, they would start to just exfoliate off. Naomi was confident that my spots could be treated, and although I was skeptical about something that seemed too good to be true, I scheduled my first BBL treatment. I’m not going to lie, that laser hurt! But, the pain lasted for just a second… and immediately after the treatment, the most obvious spots seemed to be darker. Naomi explained that the spots that were treated would continue to darken up, and then just flake off. She said that the whole process would take about one to two weeks, and oddly enough, during this period I was too fascinated at what was happening on my face to be self-conscious.

For the first few days, the spots continued to darken to the point where it looked like I had Oreo crumbs on my face. Shortly thereafter, every time I looked at myself there seemed to be fewer and fewer Oreo crumbs. (Most drastic on my nose.) Through just one treatment, it seemed like 75% of my spots were gone, and it was so easy?

A new laser convert, I called About Face SkinCare to schedule my second treatment. Naomi was happy with my results, and told me that the most superficial damage was what had been eradicated with the first treatment, and the subsequent treatments would be reaching the damage that was a little bit deeper… Two more treatments later, and I am so happy with my skin I feel like telling everyone about what I used to look like, so that they can notice and admire my perfect skin.

When my summer tan had completely faded away, I was depressed/horrified to see how many freckles and “brown spots” I had covering my face! After researching my options online I decided to try a photorejuvenation laser treatment at About Face SkinCare. When I got there, Naomi Fenlin carefully inspected my face, explained my treatment choices. When I readily agreed to her suggestion of a BBL treatment, she went to work with her laser. The laser felt like nothing else I had experienced, it was almost like a quick rubber band snap against the skin, and although jarring, it lasted only an instant.

Immediately after the treatment, the most prominent brown spots instantly got darker and more noticeable. I was upset that the exact opposite of what I wanted to happen was happening, but Naomi explained that this was part of the process, and those spots would continue to darken before essentially shriveling up and sloughing off. And… she was right.

About a week and a half after my treatment, I’d say 90% of my brown spots were completely gone.

Seeing how much positive effect one treatment had, I decided go back for a round two to get rid of the more stubborn spots.

Since then my skin is so clear I don’t need to wear any make-up at all to even out my complexion, and besides Naomi, SPF 50 is my new best friend. (Want to keep my skin looking this way!!) Can’t say enough good things.

I’d been contemplating doing something about my freckles and sun-spots for a long time, and Naomi Fenlin kept coming across my radar time after time during my Philadelphia based search. Their Tweets and Facebook posts seemed like they were really on top of what was going on in the beauty industry, and their nicely sized fan-base instilled a sense of trust about what I could expect from any treatment there.

So… after hesitating about the issue for a few months, I finally picked up the phone and scheduled a consultation. Whoever I spoke to was super nice and knowledgeable, and I was very excited for my appointment. When I got there, Naomi checked out my face and chest (the two areas I was the most self-conscious about.) She seemed pretty confident that she’d be able to get rid of most of the spots. (She said some of the freckles that I’ve had forever probably wouldn’t be able to be removed, because the melanin went too deep beneath my skin to be affected by the lasers, or something…) I was ok with this though, as it wasn’t my “beauty” marks that were bothering me, but the hundreds of other little nasty brown marks everywhere. Also, I appreciated the honesty.

At the time of my treatment, I was kind of (ok, a lot) nervous about the pain that would be involved with this. Once we were actually going and Naomi was zapping away, it was a really weird feeling, almost like a sharp rubber band snap against your skin, but the feeling only lasted for a second. The sting was more distinct the more brown-spots there were in a particular area, but… strangely enough, I kind of liked the pain bc it made me feel like the treatment was really working, and I wanted as many of those things gone as possible.

When it was all done, my face didn’t hurt exactly, but it felt… toasted is the best way to describe it. Some of my spots actually looked immediately darker, but Naomi assured me that was the perfect thing to happen– all of the spots were going to continue to darken up before falling off, and she was right.

A week afterwards, I still had some dark spots remaining on my face, but then another week after that, all those spots were gone and it was amazing.

It blows my mind– in a good way– how much clearer my skin looks, and I love it!! The only downside is now that my fair skin is so clear, any pimple I get stands out a lot more… but, that’s a price I’m willing to suffer through for such pretty skin. I would definitely recommend About Face SkinCare & Naomi Fenlin to anyone interested in getting rid of sun-spots and sun damage.

Thank you About Face SkinCare!

With my wedding day rapidly approaching, I wanted look my absolute best for the big day that I’ve dreamed about all my life. I was taking every step possible to look and feel my best, was eating right and working out, but the freckles all over my shoulder, chest, and face were detracting from the pristine look I was going for. After doing some research about ways to remove freckles and sun damage, I called Naomi Fenlin.

Naomi’s excitement about my results made me extra excited; she said that my coloring made me a perfect candidate for this treatment, but that if we were going to partner together to get rid of these spots, I would have to do my part by making sure my skin was always protected in the sun.

True to her word, my freckles and spots completely vanished, and on my wedding day I was able to have the porcelain skin of my dreams.

To prevent those spots from ever coming back, I am keeping my word to Naomi by always wearing a big sun hat and loads of SPF 50.
