Rejuvenize Peel After Care and Treatment Info

Skin resurfacing results following a professional chemical peel treatment

This specific chemical peel is no longer offered at About Face Aesthetics. As our approach to skin health continues to evolve, we regularly refine our treatment offerings to reflect the options we believe deliver the most effective, personalized, and responsible results.

About the Rejuvenize Peel

The Rejuvenize Peel was a professional-grade, deep chemical peel historically used to address concerns such as sun damage, melasma, acne scarring, uneven texture, and fine lines through aggressive exfoliation.

Developed by SkinMedica, the peel was formulated to penetrate the upper layers of the skin and promote accelerated cellular turnover. Its goal was to remove damaged surface cells and reveal smoother, more evenly toned skin beneath, while aiming to balance efficacy with manageable downtime.

While over-the-counter skincare products may support ongoing skin health, treatments like this peel were once used for individuals seeking more pronounced resurfacing results under professional supervision.

How It Worked

The Rejuvenize Peel was designed to permeate the topmost layers of the skin, intentionally drying and stimulating the outer layer to encourage controlled peeling. As the treated skin exfoliated, newer, healthier-looking skin emerged over the following days.

The formulation was intended to affect multiple layers of damaged skin cells, delivering visible results after a single application while remaining self-neutralizing and predictable in its behavior.

Sensation and Tolerability

During application, patients commonly experienced a tingling or prickling sensation, along with warmth or flushing similar to a mild sunburn. Increased sensitivity was expected during the initial hours following treatment.

Unlike some chemical peels, the Rejuvenize Peel did not require a neutralizing agent, as it was designed to regulate its activity on its own.

Treatment Timing and Recovery

The in-office application process typically took only a few minutes, with the full appointment lasting approximately 30 minutes. After treatment, the peel solution remained on the skin for several hours before being washed off at home, usually within 6 to 8 hours.

Visible peeling often began within one to two days, peaking around the third or fourth day. During this time, makeup provided limited coverage, and some individuals chose to limit social activities until peeling subsided. Complete peeling generally resolved within five to six days.

Duration of Results

This peel was designed to provide noticeable exfoliation and skin-refreshing effects after a single treatment, with results often lasting several months. Historically, a series of treatments was recommended to maintain cumulative improvements.

Active Ingredients (Historical Reference)

Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Resorcinol, Retinoic Acid, Panthenol, Isoceteth-20

Post-Treatment Care (General Guidance)

The following aftercare principles were historically recommended and remain broadly relevant for many resurfacing treatments today.

Immediately after treatment

  • Avoid washing the face for at least 6 hours

  • Temporary warmth, tightness, redness, or discoloration may occur

  • Mild swelling, particularly around the eyes, was possible

During peeling (typically days 2–5)

  • Skin may feel tight, itchy, or sensitive

  • Peeling generally began within 48–72 hours

  • Skin should be allowed to peel naturally. Picking or pulling could increase the risk of irritation, pigmentation changes, or scarring

Care recommendations

  • Cleanse gently with a mild cleanser

  • Moisturize frequently to relieve dryness and support controlled peeling

  • Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least one week

What was typically avoided

  • Strenuous exercise until peeling resolved

  • Retinoids, exfoliating acids, and bleaching agents

  • Facials, hair removal, microdermabrasion, or laser treatments until skin fully recovered
