Neurotoxin injections are the #1 non-surgical skin treatment in the country, and for good reason! Whether you?re using Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin (all are available in our Philadelphia office) the results are the same: wrinkles are smoothed away, and skin looks instantly younger and refreshed.
While many men are experimenting with cosmetic injectables, there are still a ton of men that feel apprehensive about the treatment. Whether it?s due to misinformation (these injections will NOT give you Lisa Rinna lips!) or misconceptions (when done properly, your results should look super natural and not obvious at all), we are here to clear up the 5 biggest concerns that men have with cosmetic injections.
MYTH #1: [Botox / Dysport / Xeomin ] injections will make me look like I?ve had work done.
The Reality: These treatments are intended to subtly smooth the moderate to severe lines around your eyes and between your brows. When used correctly, your results should be completely natural looking. No one needs to know you?ve had anything done?you?ll still look like you.
MYTH #2: [Botox / Dysport / Xeomin ] treatments will take too much time out of my day.
These treatments can work with anyone?s busy schedule! You?d be amazed at how quick they are — treatments take about 10 minutes with generally, no downtime.
MYTH #3: [Botox / Dysport / Xeomin ] injections are only for women.
Not at all! These injections are approved to treat all appropriate adults. In clinical studies for moderate to severe frown lines and crow?s feet, 17.5% and about 12%, respectively, of patients treated with BOTOX? Cosmetic were men.
Additionally, why should women be the only sex that is allowed to care about how they look? In order to remain competitive in the job market, more and more men are seeking aesthetic treatments that help them look and feel young and vibrant. Taking pride in your appearance is nothing to be embarrassed about.
MYTH #4: [Botox / Dysport / Xeomin ] injections are new, untested, and potentially harmful for me.
So NOT true! In 2002, BOTOX? Cosmetic became the first FDA-approved product to temporarily improve moderate to severe frown lines. And in 2013, it became the first and only FDA-approved product to temporarily improve moderate to severe crow?s feet.
In the meantime, Dysport and Xeomin have been discovered to be equally as effective as Botox, and all three are immensely safe and reliable products.
Additionally, this is one of the most widely studied and researched medical aesthetic treatments. It is so safe and beneficial that new uses and applications for it are being discovered all the time.
MYTH #5: [Botox / Dysport / Xeomin ] injections are only for your lips.
These treatments are definitely NOT for your lips. Neurotoxins like BOTOX? Cosmetic, Dysport, and Xeomin are approved to be injected around the sides of your eyes (for treatment of crow?s feet) or between your brows (for treatment of frown lines). Neurotoxins work by paralyzing the under-lying muscle, allowing the skin on top to lie flat. NO ONE would ever want to paralyze their lips, and instead, most people generally confuse neurotoxins with dermal fillers (Restylane, Juvederm, etc.) which add volume, and would be injected into your lips.
